Florida Series

1 – Diving In Deep
You never forget your first time.

Cameron Lewis loves his job as an instructor/trainer for a water safety firm that inspects water parks. He gets to travel from March through September, always moving on to something different. When a strange emptiness starts plaguing him, he chalks it up to turning thirty.

He manages to shake off the feeling-until he walks into a classroom and discovers that the eye candy in the front row is actually a very grown up version of his best-friend’s kid brother.

Noah Winthrop never forgot his first time. Scary, painful and then absolutely amazing-and with Cameron, the guy he’d always wanted. He’s had a crush on his brother’s best friend since puberty and now nothing will keep him from finally getting Cameron Lewis to notice him.

Even though Cameron once rejected him, Noah is determined to get it right this time.

2 – Collision Course
Immovable object? Meet the irresistible force.

Paramedic Aaron Chase doesn’t have anything against love. It just comes with a lot of responsibility, like when he had to raise his sister and brothers after their drug-addicted mom took off for good. Now that the last one is off to college, Aaron’s anticipating enjoying life on his own terms. He certainly wasn’t expecting Joey Miller to accidentally drop into his life.

Joey’s sexy, funny and annoyingly optimistic, and his tendency to get into trouble keeps sending him Aaron’s way. Even the fact that Joey works for the hated social work system isn’t reason enough to keep him out of Aaron’s bed.

Joey knows all about love. He’s fallen in it ten times—he thinks. It’s not that he can’t tell the difference between sex and love. All that experience has to count for something, right? With Aaron it’s different. Maybe because there’s something to fight for.

This time Joey’s fallen for good. He’s not going to let number eleven get away.

3 – No Souvenirs
A vacation fling. No complications. No connections. And no regrets.

Trauma surgeon Jae Sun Kim has just lost the job he wanted more than anything else in his life. Looking for a way to hit the reset button, he takes a scuba vacation. He didn’t plan on seasickness, or a dive master who is sex-on-the-beach personified.

Shane McCormack’s tendency to drift away from complicated situations has landed him a job as a dive master in Belize, which isn’t as glamorous as it sounds. But with the big three-oh looming, asking his parents to bail him out again isn’t an option. The job isn’t without its perks, though, and as soon as he figures a way to keep that hot but arrogant ass of a doctor from tossing his cookies over the side of the boat, he plans to flirt the control freak out of his brittle shell.

The close quarters on the ship generate more heat than either expects, but a vacation fling is all that’s in the plans. An unexpected adventure leaves them changed in ways that make it impossible to go back to their old lives. The risks they’ll both have to take could leave them with nothing but more scars, or the best souvenir of all.

I LOVE this series! In both books, sex is supposed to be the main story. Neither Cameron, from Diving in Deep, nor Aaron, from Collision Course, want anything permanent …. they just want. But Noah and Joey aren’t built that way. Noah has waited too long to show Cameron how he really feels, and Joey has been around the block too many times to not know how right Aaron is for him.

The great part of these stories is the fall of the unbeliever … of course they are going to love all the more deeply because of it.

The only point that bothered me was an issue between Aaron and Joey. Joey is a social worker and Aaron has plenty of reason to distrust social workers … in general. But anytime Joey asks a question, Aaron goes off the cuff telling him to cut the social worker bullshit and that he is a manipulator for getting Aaron to do things. Really? Joey, as a character, was created to be curious … he’d have asked most of the same questions regardless of his profession. Most of the questions being of the normal “get-to-know-you” variety. That Aaron takes such offense is on him, not Joey.

And the manipulation? There was one instance in particular that might be considered manipulation. Knowing Aaron would probably not make a big deal about his birthday, Joey worked a little magic so they could do something without it being all about Aaron’s birthday and more of a fun day out. Doesn’t everyone have goals, wants and wishes, and plans and do things to get what they want? I really think Joey gets a bum deal on that charge … especially since most of the time its Aaron who is making the decisions and Joey is happily keeping his mouth shut.

I just saw that LB Gregg’s blog that she really likes K.A. Mitchell…what do you think?

PS You know I heart man love authors like JL Langley, Josh Lanyon, LB Gregg, Jordan Castillo Price.

I can see a lot of similarities in how they write. Especially the dynamics between the couples. One is usually relationship impaired while the other is much more of a free-spirit.

Another thing is the depth and consistency … plenty of fun, wit and romance, but no fluff.

I have both KA Mitchell and LB Gregg on auto-buy. You can always count on them for quality.

I wonder if they know each other?

Read this one today. Loved it! K.A is also on auto-buy for me. I have never been disappointed by any of her stories.

I just wonder were she’s going to go next with this series or if this is the end. There are no obvious candidates although I always wondered if one, or both, of Aaron’s younger brothers, Dylan in particular, was going to find himself swinging that way. We don’t know too much about Shane’s brother Braden, either.

Otherwise, to keep the series going, it would have to be a continuation story with one of the couples we have (more Noah and Cameron please) or the introduction of someone completely new.

I really love this series so I hope there is much more to come!
