Tinseltown Blues: All That Glitters

Everyone knows all that glitters is not gold and in Hollywood that couldn’t be more true.

For screen star Harley Sheffield, the constant sparkle of champagne bubbles and flash of the media’s cameras are made bearable by only one thing—his older brother, Trey. Unfortunately, in a world where a celebrity’s life is held under continual, microscopic scrutiny, Trey is increasingly uncomfortable with their illicit affair and leaves for six months to search his soul for answers.

When the need to see Harley becomes overwhelming and Trey returns home, Harley gives him the night to decide what is more important: avoiding the cold glare of Tinseltown and the risk of being discovered, or once again knowing the warmth of his brother’s love.

Content Warning: This title contains a consensual sexual relationship between adult brothers and a fair amount of angst.

From the Desk of Acer Adamson:
I yanked Tinseltown because I wasn’t all that thrilled with it, and I really don’t plan on revisiting those characters after all. Most of the time, I get so attached to my characters that I want to write them forever, and I go through a sort of separation anxiety when I finish a story. That particular story I wrote it by request, and as it turns out the characters didn’t really resonate with me or feel from the heart. A little too angst-riddled for my tastes.

Starcrossed Series

Starcrossed 1: Demon Tailz
Famous for the witch trials of 1692, Salem has been trying to smudge out the horrible images of murder and injustice for centuries. In a complete turnaround, the town began welcoming all witches, and by the early 21st century one in four Salem residents either claimed to be a witch or to know one.

Jace Barton is a demon making a comfortable living as co-owner of Tailz—a colorful pub in Salem—along with his twin brother Konnor. Strange people pass through its doors all the time, but on Halloween things always tend to get even more bizarre. Still, Jace is surprised when Cash Rowan pays him a visit with a tale that stands Jace’s hair on end. Ten years of desperate searching has brought Cash to Jace’s door, and he isn’t leaving until Jace gives him exactly what he needs.

Warning: This dark urban fantasy contains graphic violence and a consensual sexual relationship between non-human twin brothers.

Starcrossed 2: Opposite Ends of the Spectrum
Incubus Dekin Swain finds himself plucked from his monochrome, sex-feeding lifestyle and thrown into the harsh, chilling world of a traveling carnival freak show. His life gains a vibrant splash of color when he is caged beside a fellow ‘freak’ who should be his mortal enemy.

A prisoner of the carnival long before the demon arrived, Kelly, the ‘Scarlet Angel’, has almost given up hope of ever escaping his captors. His extraordinary hair and wings quickly catch Dekin’s interest and lustful stares. Thrust together by the cold fingers of fate, Dekin and Kelly are forced to put aside their differences and work together. The appearance of an artist with an unusual talent puts the fragile bond between angel and demon to the test. Dekin and Kelly quickly discover that although life together will never be easy, life apart would be unbearable.

Starcrossed 2 1/2: Sangria and Seraphim
Identical twin demons Jace and Konnor Barton run Tailz, a supernatural-friendly bar in Salem, Massachusetts. The sort of place where things are never dull, on the weekend of a full moon things can get even more interesting. When Jace encounters an angel in distress, he can hardly resist the urge to offer his own special brand of help.Ariel is an angel with an itch to experience the darker side of earthly life, and he has heard through the grapevine that Jace is the demon for the job. Much to his surprise, Ariel finds out he will be getting both brothers coming to his aid for the price of one.

Warnings:This title contains graphic language and a consensual sexual relationship between non-human twin brothers. This erotica title is not a romance. It is not advertised as a romance, nor is it published through a strictly romance publisher.

Starcrossed 3: Objects in the Mirror
StarCrossed 3: Objects in the Mirror takes us back to the town of Salem, Massachusetts, famous for the witch trials of 1692. In the wake of that tragic time, the town has done everything in its power to be charitable toward its more unique residents. Tarot readers, a nightclub with a twist, and little shops dedicated to magic and New Age arts line the downtown streets. One of every four Salem residents claims either to be a witch or to know one.

What newcomers don’t realize, however, is that witches are hardly the only usual people who might be living next door.

Jace and Konnor Barton are demon twins enjoying a much-improved life after narrowly escaping a very rough start. Given a second chance, they live in the protective care of their adoptive father, vampire Gennady Zaitsev. Trouble starts when local clergy are brutally murdered, and the Salem Special Council—of which Gennady is the president—is asked to rein in a potentially dangerous citizen.

Twenty years should have been enough to leave their past behind them, but it has come charging after the Barton twins with an unholy vengeance. When one brother falls under suspicion for the clergy murders, it shatters the heart of the other. Only an unlikely alliance of angels, vampires, were-creatures, and humans can help the brothers and keep the secret of supernatural beings living in Salem safe from the outside world.

The clock is ticking.

Angel Tears is a “deleted scene” from the novel StarCrossed 3: Objects in the Mirror. The authors felt it slowed the pace of the story. However, character development and information in this scene will become important and meaningful as the series progresses.

While reading the cemetery scene in StarCrossed 3: Objects in the Mirror, did you wonder how the angel Sariel came to be in John and Matthew Banks’ possession, and how Sariel ended up in the condition he was in at the onset of that scene? If so, you don’t want to miss StarCrossed 3 1/2: Angel Tears.

Content Warning: This title contains adult language, graphic violence, coerced sex with dubious consent, and generally dark themes.

From the Desk of Jaye Valentine:
Yes, the StarCrossed series is based in Salem, and we have borrowed many real locations and fictionalized their purpose. The restaurant/bar called “Tailz,” which is owned by twin demons Jace and Konnor Barton, is actually a very popular bar/restaurant (another name, of course!) on beautiful Lafayette Street. The vampire Gennady Zaitsev (Jace and Konnor’s adoptive father) owns one of the grand Victorian mansions on the same street.

We picked out a lovely house on Leach Street on the harbor in Salem that serves as the supernaturals’ brothel. We mention the central police station, the post office, and other businesses by their actual locations. And of course, we give a nod to the hated-by-locals statue of Samantha Stevens from “Bewitched” that sits in the town square.

We’ve referenced Gallows Hill, and in the next book (the 100,000-word behemoth known as “StarCrossed 4: In the Blink of an Eye,” due out this spring), we will have even more local references. “StarCrossed 5: Panacea” is currently in first draft (about 50,000-words so far) and among the other plot points, it will introduce our explanation of a very creepy New England legend.

Broken

Sometimes bravery and love are one and the same.

Gabriel and Tristan Stalling parted ways seven years ago when their father kicked Gabriel out of the house for being gay. The years that passed were hard on both brothers. Tristan was left with his guilt and shame for not sticking up for his twin, the relentless need to please their parents, and the gnawing ache for his other half.

Gabriel manages to make his dreams of becoming a rockstar come true, but with his fame comes drugs and meaningless sex as he tries to drown out the hurt he feels when Tristan abandoned him.

As fate would have it, the Stalling twins are about to get one last chance to make things right. Both Gabriel and Tristan will be tested as never before. Not only will they have to make a choice between giving in to a love so taboo it can never be revealed or spending their lives forever broken, but they will also have to face the ghosts of their past, even the ones with the power to destroy them.

Reader Advisory: This book contains a twincest storyline, sexual intimacy between twins, and may be offensive to some readers. This is a TABOO story.

Fearing the backlash of being discovered, they bide their time, and explore the new dynamics of their powerful relationship.

But will they be Torn apart?
